Learn to sail on Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia onboard Oak Haven, an Island Packet 350 sailing yacht. Our Sail Canada certified instructors offer sail training for adults with a selection of courses from the Sail Canada Cruising and Keelboat Sailing program. Or take a private lesson to develop skills, gain experience and build confidence.

Sailing tour on Mahone Bay

Introduction to Boating

3 hours

This course is intended to provide novice boaters the opportunity to experience the joys of boating. The session(s) may also be used for the purpose of building crew teamwork skills on water.

$150 +HST
per person

Minimum class size 3 students; bring 4 students and receive a 10% discount!

Start Keelboat Sailing

12-14 hours

This course is the recommended starting point for individuals with minimal practical on water experience. This entry level builds basic sailing skills with a focus on operation of the vessel as crew.

$590 +HST
per person

Class size 3 or 4 students.

Basic Cruising Standard

27-30 hours

This course develops the student’s ability to take command of and operate (with assistance of competent crew) an auxiliary powered sailing vessel, by day, in light to moderate conditions. 

$890 +HST
per person

Class size 3 or 4 students.

Private Lesson

Minimum 3 hours

Individualized sessions to help students develop sailing acumen or work on specific sailing skills.  Sessions can be tailored for couples or small groups looking to enhance their shared sailing experience.

$150 + HST
per hour

Class size 1 – 4 students.
